Changes at Smashwords

Man oh man, has this year been something else. I won't go into details because it's all personal stuff, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel now and things are finally getting back to normal. Or the new normal, but not crazy like before, so that's good. I've even been thinking about writing again, which I haven't given a thought to for months. I did break the end of my left pinkie finger and that's finally getting back to the point I can type again, but it feels weird. So, this will be short.

So, apparently Smashwords (my eBook publisher) has merged with a company called Draft2Digital and in time, there will be no more Smashwords. I just submitted a request for an account with Draft2Digital and am awaiting an email that an account has been established. Once it is, D2D will begin bringing over my books and all the information with them. At this time, I don't believe I will have to convert files although they don't have mobi files like Smashwords does, they just have doc and epub. I am sure I will be given more details when my account is accepted. I do not know how long this will take. And I'm not sure what this means for readers trying to purchase my eBooks. I will keep everyone informed with any changes. I'm just praying this will be a smooth process. I hate that we writers were not given a say in any of this. If keeping the books on D2D is more complicated than publishing on Smashwords--which was pretty complicated if you are not computer savvy--then I may republish them on Kindle Direct. Any hoo, that's to be seen.

Hang with me, dear friends. Till next time!
